DAIRY WIPES

Using medicated teat wipes is recommended as part of your routine milking programme. As part of a veterinary directed mastitis control plan, the use of an individual medicated teat wipe has been shown to aid mastitis control and reduce cell counts.

These wipes have been specifically formulated for use in the dairy industry. The active ingredients of cetrimide and chlorhexidine disinfect the teat end and skin to reduce bacterial contamination . Added emollients work to replace essential oils removed during wiping and milking.

In trials, disinfection of the teat and teat end has been shown to reduce bacterial load. Reducing teat bacterial load can help reduce mastitis rate, individual and bulk cell counts and bactoscans.

The use of a teat wipe is therefore advised as part of any mastits control plan.

Please note

One wipe should be used per cow milking. Each teat should be cleaned in turn prior to application of the cluster. Particular attention should be paid to the teat end to ensure good cleaning of this area.
